La Dolce Vita
A Culinary adventure in Italy!
Ah, the Sweet Life! Our weeklong Culinary Adventure to the Green Heart of Italy is shaping up nicely. We are staying in a 12th century hilltop villa overlooking Umbria’s unspoiled undulating countryside just outside Umbria’s golden city, Perugia, which crowns a hill like another Acropolis. Here you can unwind from your overbooked life; rest, cook and taste the abundance of Italian foods from one of Italy’s great agricultural regions, taste local wines including the great Chiantis, Orvieto, Vin Santo, and Prosecco. Shop in peaceful, quiet markets. See incredible pottery, linens. You don’t have to be a foodie to love this trip! Have you heard about Italian underwear and angora sweaters? Fabulous and available at outside bazaars and nearby factories. We will pack and ship all your purchases for you so they arrive at your doorstep at home.
Some specific highlights:
Mornings at the villa, expert local cooks will join our Culinary Guide, James Beard Award Winner Linda Eckhardt, to demonstrate local specialties: Pastries and Desserts, Umbrian soups, rich egg pastas and pizzas, meats, prosciutto and local hand-made sausages, with local ingredients such as incomparable black truffles, wild Italian sage, rosemary, and others.
A renowned pastry chef has a menu of local sweets including silky Perugina chocolates, local hazelnuts, and dessert wines.
You will get your chance to cook in a real Italian kitchen, as each day, four of you will cook our dinner in the villa, using the local produce, the villa’s kitchen, and expert hands-on experience with our chefs. Pastas, pastries, panna cotta, our very own gelato, and so on….
We’ll ride down Chianti road and talk with some of the producers of their great wines.
