Was there ever a more welcome Spring? After shoveling out from an unbelievable winter, I know I’m ready to cook up some lighter dishes, to relax and sit out in the back yard under the grape arbor and enjoy a long leisurely lunch. I invite you to join me.
It’s really been busy around here. I just finished a piece called “Uncooking” which appears in Redbook, August 2003. Am working on a piece for “Country Living” for January 2004 (topic is still top secret), and besides that I’m about to launch into a cross country trip to cook in schools around the country for the new cookbook,
Half Scratch Magic, brand spanking new and in bookstores everywhere. If you want an autographed one, just email me or order here and it’ll be on its way to you – autographed by Katherine, my daughter and co-author, and me.
Check out the travel schedule. If I’m in your city, I hope you’ll stop by and say howdy when I’m at the cooking school.
First off, I go to Baltimore, Washington D.C. where I’ll be teaching Half Scratch, Country French, The on-going Master Class and Kitchen Cosmetics. Wish you were here.
Kitchen cosmetics is a fun subject. See my piece in Country Living, March 2003 for some fantastic ideas for bath and body products you can make at home. I’ve included some of the recipes on the site. Check it out.
Besides that, Morris Vatz and I are still hoping to take a lucky few with us to Umbria in October. We had such a fine time there two years ago. It’s a great vacation if you understand that the only reason to travel is to eat. Oh, you may have to find something to do between meals like go to museums and cathedrals, but if you’d like to just hang out with like-minded people, learn to cook from native Italian experts, and try some fantastic wines, join us. See Field Trips.
On this site, I want to hear from you. Let me know what’s interesting to you. What are you cooking? What do you want to cook? Let’s get the conversation going.
More later - and keep on cooking.
